Steve De Neef is a cinematographer, director, and photographer drawn to stories shaped by the sea. Working above and below the water, he documents the connection between people and the ocean.
His work ranges from solo projects to major productions with National Geographic, Disney, PBS, and the BBC, bringing marine science, conservation, and overlooked stories to global audiences. From filming rare sperm whale nursing behavior to documenting climate change in the Gulf of Maine, his work focuses on the beauty, fragility, and resilience of the ocean. He also takes on select high-end commercial projects and creates fine art photographic work.
A TEDx speaker and award-winning filmmaker, Steve’s films and photography have reached audiences worldwide. He lives on the Maine coast with his wife, three children, and their dog.
